SOS, GMG and Vivid join forces for '3D Proof' Open Day

SOS, GMG and Vivid are teaming up for an open house for packaging printers and designers, which will take place at Vivid’s showroom in Ashby De La Zouch, Leicestershire, from September 14th to 15th.
The ‘THE 3D PROOF’ campaign will produce color-accurate packaging models in real-time on real substrates, including cartons, labels and foil packaging.Printing will be done on two of the latest Roland machines from SOS, the LEC2-330 and LEF2-300 powered by GMG colour management. The samples will then be cut and folded on Vivid’s VeloBlade series of equipment, allowing visitors to take away the finished product.
Ashley Fleming, SOS Sales Manager: “The latest equipment and software for package proofing can achieve speeds and accuracy unheard of a decade ago. This is a must-see event for anyone in the packaging industry!”
The LEC2-330 is Roland’s newest UV printer cutter, making an impact across the industry as the ideal machine for packaging proofs directly onto production substrates and quality labels. It has a maximum media width of 762mm and can print, cut, perforate, varnish, emboss and add textured UVs.A larger 1,265mm width version (LEC2-640) is also available.
The LEF 2-300 is an award-winning direct-to-object desktop UV printer capable of printing objects up to 100mm thick. It prints photos, graphics and fine text in stunning quality on PVC and plastic, canvas, wood, leather, fabric, acrylic and glass.
The event will showcase GMG Color Management on the LEC2-330, which enables accurate and repeatable proofing on packaging production substrates, combined with white inks – ideal for printing on transparent and metallic materials. Thanks to reliable calibration and profiles, users can easily create specific media profiles for any media used by the printer.
GMG OpenColor uses GMG ColorProof to create consistent CMYK and multicolor printing simulations.Additionally, the award-winning calibration creation wizard supports managing output conditions in GMG OpenColor, simplifying print parameter configuration, and printing and measuring test charts for visual evaluation.
The event will feature a variety of cutting-edge print processing equipment in Vivid’s showroom, including lamination, digital foil stamping, cutting, creasing and folding, including the VeloBlade family of digital die-cutting systems.Vivid will also showcase their recently launched Zip Core packaging software designed to optimize every aspect of packaging design from start to finish.
In addition to boxes, labels and foil samples, the SOS/GMG/Vivid team is also happy to produce real client pieces.Visitors wishing to provide documentation in advance to produce at the event should email [email protected] by September 1.Open from 10am to 5.30pm on 14th September and 10am to 3.30pm on 15th September.
